Growing up, my mom always LOVED plants. I remember watching her water them, repot them, and start clippings in glasses of water, (which I later learned was called propogating). She always had plants around. And throughout the years, as life ebbed and flowed, plants were her constant. And after the passing of my father plus her retirement, I saw the transformative power that plants had in her life. Buying, growing, and loving her plants helped her transistion into a new phase of life. Plants gave her peace. Then the pandemic hit, and I noticed people all around me getting into plants. The loneliness and inactivity that set in for a lot of folks was eased by inviting some new plants into their homes. The pandemic seemed to return a lot of people to their roots, pun intended. People need something to care for. People need to see growth and life. Plant care is self care! My mom's love for plants is the inspiration behind For the Horticulture. She's the best human mom and plant mom out here!
